The Homeland Security Death Penalty
Thu Dec 08, 2005 at 11:29:54 PM PDT
Months ago, I was inspired to write
two diaries about the senseless shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes.
It's late, but I wanted to revisit it and share a few more of my thoughts, in light of this new occurrence.
blackberry blogging from post wilma florida
Thu Oct 27, 2005 at 04:34:11 PM PDT
Reporting from palm beach county, florida. Myself and sections of my city got power at about midnight last night. I still don't have internet, hence the blackberry. Many thousands of people chasing the rumor of fuel, and those few stations that have the supply, electric, and facilities to pump it. I witnessed a line perhaps 2 miles long at 5:00 am at a station which was able to pump off generator.
Review-Journal Hack Job on Sen. Reid Fails
Fri Sep 30, 2005 at 01:58:03 PM PDT
This is headlined by
Drudge as "Money connected to Dem Leader Reid; Senator arranged for grant now involved in indictment of pastors..." Obviously Drudge thinks this is some sort of counterpunch to the Delay story...
"Let's see, we have all the keywords - Dem Leader, Senator Reid, money, indictment..."
The implication is that Reid may have been laundering Federal money through this Church. But it just doesn't work.
Spewing Bloggers
Thu Sep 15, 2005 at 09:31:04 PM PDT
I'm improving and reposting my comment in reply to Kos's misleadingly titled diary earlier today,
Suing Bloggers, since it didn't receive a reply in the 600+ comment pie fight, because I think people need to know since Kos used the bully pulpit to talk out his ass, and maybe just because I've got the right to... This diary will be deleted in 5..4..3..2..
Jean Charles de Menezes - Marked for Death.
Sun Jul 24, 2005 at 11:49:58 PM PDT
I've been reading up on the execution-style killing of this
innocent person; I'm haunted by it, since he was born the same year as I and I see a certain familiarity in his face.
Some Thoughts on the Police Killing in London
Sun Jul 24, 2005 at 06:30:08 PM PDT
First off, allow myself... to introduce myself. I probably don't align with the far left of the far left, some of whom are on dKos. My most basic principle is to be reality-based and logic-based, rather than elevating dogmas.
So my thoughts on the police killing in London don't come from some standpoint of being completely adverse to firearms or police, or even because I "hate America". I'm just looking at the facts and trying to be logical.
Hey, I Got A Scoop
Fri Jul 15, 2005 at 08:59:24 PM PDT
I don't know if I'm the late one to the party with this, but I ran across this link. I searched dKos to see if it had already been diarized and didn't find it, so here is the mindless link propagation:
Watching America
What is it?
In the words of the Christian Science Monitor:
'A glimpse of how foreigners feel about the only superpower.'
Up to the minute edited (read: not Babelfish gibberish) English translations of hundreds of foreign news articles. Just a perusal of the main page, with articles for July thus far, is mind-blowing.
Have a nice day.
Pelosi - BRILLIANT
Thu Jun 23, 2005 at 07:53:57 AM PDT
Nancy Pelosi - "The War in Afghanistan is over."Seven House Republicans - "WHAT! How dare you! Don't you know that people are still dying there every day, and... uhhh... we still have to find Osama Bin Laden... oh... sh*t."
This is the equivalent of choking someone to death with his own arm. Like injecting a virus into the mothership. Pure brilliance. The only thing we can hope is that the outrage against Ms. Pelosi's outrageous and callous remarks continues; the sound you heard was the sound of 150 million Republican heads popping as they try to mentally contain the concept that the war on Afghanistan is not over until we find Osama Bin Laden, even though Fearless Leader "doesn't really care where he is."
"I'll take Cognitive Dissonance for $1000 please, Alex."
Senator Nelson (FL) - Energy Policy Bill, ANWR, Offshore Drilling
Wed Jun 15, 2005 at 08:28:13 PM PDT
Senator Nelson (FL) has a
petition seeking support against language in the Energy Policy bill which would allow drilling off the Florida coast. Sign it, but make sure he knows that saving Florida isn't worth sacrificing ANWR.
AAAACK! - We Are All Dean Screamers Now...

Some of my thoughts on various Democratic leader
responses to their Chairman's opinion.
I Feel Sorry for Rush Limbaugh... Maybe.
Mon May 23, 2005 at 09:44:00 PM PDT
Being laid up with a certain injury, I've decided to use my diary not to talk about the latest zeitgeist, but to diarize my thoughts.
As you may recall, much hay was made in the past of the fact that chickenhawk Rush Limbaugh avoided service in Vietnam due to having a pilonidal cyst, described as "an ingrown hair on one's ass".
Update [2005-5-24 7:40:11 by steppenwulf]: Suggest you don't click on that cyst link unless you have a cast-iron stomach. Sorry to any troubled by recurring images of what they saw.
And yes, this is meant to be taken with a side of snark; I tend to have a very dry sense of humor such that others can't detect my snark. It's "stealth snark". After this experience, I'm actually more inclined to believe that El Rushbo and/or his parents probably searched the yellow pages and paid good money for a Dr. who would diagnose that he was 4-F, and pilonidal cyst was likely a good excuse.
My Letter to Sen. Nelson (FL) - Bankruptcy Cloture Yea Vote
Wed Mar 09, 2005 at 10:35:50 PM PDT
When I read about my Democratic Senator's Yea vote on ending debate on the bankruptcy bill, it steamed me enough to write my first letter to an elected official, of many to come.
I did this earlier today, and in light of kos's later apologetics attempting to rationalize this behavior - I understand all of these realities, and that's why there's no four letter words or outright accusation in my little epistle. That's why I concede that, although the bill might not be defeated, continued debate and the threat of filibuster might reach a compromise less damaging to working-class families, or at least keep the bill "in the news cycle" and continue to raise public awareness of how one-sided it is.
My only hope is to let my representative know, "I'm watching, so at least try to live your principles even when political realities intervene."
Will update diary when response is received.
